Jupiter Academy’s Middle School Math & Technology teacher, Mr. Ian is finally doing what he loves, teaching children. Previously in the financial sector, he worked hard to earn his teaching certification while working full-time. His passion for education shows in his interaction and dedication to our students.
Mr. Ian received his certification from Palm Beach Sate College and hails from the United Kingdom.
Middle School Social Studies
In his first year at Jupiter Academy, Mr. Bruhn hopes to inspire our middle school students to love history.
Mr. Bruhn incorporates a combination of teaching styles in his classroom to engage students while using historical events, interesting facts and technology to allow students to absorb subject matter through cooperative learning groups.
Mr. Bruhn received a Bachelor of Arts in history from Eastern Connecticut State University and is Sate of Florida Certified.
Mrs. Dobbs has been Jupiter Academy’s Kindergarten teacher for the past 13 years. With over 17 years of education experience, Mrs. Dobbs has been teaching students at JA for 14 years including Preschool and third grade.
Mrs. Dobbs has an Early Childhood Endorsement and earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Buena Vista University in Iowa.
Mr. Hellquist, the middle school science teacher at Jupiter Academy has been educating students for over 11 years.
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Minnesota, Mr. Hellquist spent four years in the Air Force and also worked as a trainer for the U.S. government for 20 years. Mr. Hellquist was formerly the fifth grade teacher at JA.
Teaching at Jupiter Academy for more than a decade, Ms. Kushner has been educating first grade students for the past eight years. With an Elementary Education certification from Roberts Wesleyan College in NY, Ms. Kushner also taught second grade at JA for three years.
She is a 2001 graduate of Gettysburg College in PA with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Personality and Behavior in Society.
Mrs. Leavitt has been at Jupiter Academy since 2009 and started her career as the academy’s fifth grade teacher for two years. She then took on the role as the ESE teacher on campus and provides students with supportive services in Language Arts and Math as well as small group instruction in Orton Gillingham phonics. She has most recently added teaching middle school Language Arts to her resume.
Mrs. Leavitt earned her bachelor’s degree in Special Education K-12 with a minor in English from Providence College and went on to Southern Connecticut State University to pursue her master’s degree in special education . Before moving to Florida she taught elementary ESE for 14 years. She then decided to focus on raising her four children and open a daycare where she provided services for children four months to eight years old, some with special needs. When her youngest child was in school full-time she then returned to teaching in the Bridgeport Public School System. As an inclusion/Resource Teacher she provided pull-out services as well as support within the classrooms. Mrs. Leavitt’s goal is to provide each student with the tools they need to succeed academically. She takes great pride in her work and thoroughly enjoys being able to reach and teach so many students.
Ms. Forsythe is a Florida native, and teaches grades 2 & 3 at JA.
With several years experience in a private school environment, Ms. Forsythe loves teaching science and inspiring a love of reading within her students. She graduated magna cum laude from Florida Atlantic University, majoring in elementary education, with an ESOL endorsement.
Coach G brings her love of athletics and passion for teaching to Jupiter Academy after several years of educating students in the Tampa area.
Coach G stresses the importance of a healthy lifestyle and encourages our students to be involved in extra-curricular activities as well as community service work.
Mrs. Dale recently joined the staff at Jupiter Academy and is blessing our students by doing what she loves, fostering creativity!
While in the classroom as music director, Mrs. Dale provides her students with an understanding of musical composition, the ability to focus on the source of sound in the presence of distractions and to identify instruments. She also coordinates all musical performances at JA for shows and holiday events.
While in the Spanish classroom, Mrs. Dale engages her students with conversational tactics that allow them to speak and understand the Spanish language at their particular grade level.
Mrs. Dale has over 10 years experience in various forms of education, and we welcome her expertise to Jupiter Academy.
Our Pre-School Director and VPK Coordinator, Ms. Amy is the lead for all aspects of the program. Responsible for assessing all pre-k students, she creates and individual curriculum for each child. With a caring and loving manner, Ms. Amy lays a strong foundation for each child to build their education upon. She has over 30 years of early childhood education and has work with children of all abilities and learning styles.
Entering her fourth year at JA, Ms. DeRosa has over ten years of marketing & public relations experience. Using her design and publication skills, she assisted in increasing sales volume for one of the Jersey Shores top Real Estate Agents to over 24 million dollars in sales. Prior to working in real estate, Ms. DeRosa spent several years in college athletics as Director of Sports Information & Marketing at Ramapo College in Mahwah, NJ and Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY.
After moving to the United States from Manila, Philippines in 2000, Mrs. Macatangay started educating students at St. Mary’s High School in Jersey City, NJ, teaching business accounting and math. After relocating to Florida, she joined the staff at Jupiter Academy, continuing her love of working with students, now in an administrative capacity. Mrs. Macatangay earned her Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines and went on to pursue a master’s degree in Business Administration. She comes from a family of educators as her family owns one of the largest schools locally in her native Philippines, Educational Systems Technological Institute.
Mr. Toussiant is responsible for keeping Jupiter Academy neat and clean. Hard working and efficient, he is always willing to meet the needs of faculty, staff and students.
Prior to joining the Jupiter Academy family he owned and operated Alis Cleaning Service for more than eight years. He formerly worked for the City of Apopka and Coke a Cola before moving to Palm Beach County.
